Updates...
Summer has finally arrived and the vineyard growth is almost caught up to where we normally would be at this time of year. This is the lag phase, the time of the growing season when the fruit is set and the vines take a brief respite to store up some energy for the final ripening push from late August through September.
We’ve been very busy in the vineyard, in the tasting room (more on that below), at a couple of fun summer festival events, and in sampling and making blending decisions on the wines that will make up our new Casa Perasso Rosso, our nicely priced new red table wine. We plan to bottle in September for immediate availability in our tasting room. We’re also gearing up to bottle our very limited estate 2007 Vigna Giovanni Pinot Noir, for the first time with those sexy glass stoppers that you may have been hearing about. More news about that in the days to come…
We opened the tasting room for the first time a few weeks ago, and we and tasting room winery partner Seven of Hearts Wine have been testing our various open hours to see what works best in beautiful downtown Carlton. We are settling into our standard hours of Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 1-6pm. We are also planning our Grand Opening Celebration for Saturday, September 6th from 12-6pm. Mark your calendar and please come see us!!!

GRAND OPENING!!!
On Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 12pm - 6pm, Barbara Thomas Wines and Seven of Hearts Wine will celebrate the Grand Opening of our tasting room at 217 West Main Street in Carlton, Oregon. Tasting fees and 15% of sales will be donated to YES for Yamhill Carlton Schools, in support of the upcoming bond measure to fund facilities improvements in area schools. Donations will also be welcomed and we will offer a wine basket raffle for those wishing to donate.
Barbara Thomas Wines shares space in the tasting room with both Seven of Hearts Wine and Honest Chocolates. We will be offering our world-class wines, custom winetasting chocolates and light hors d’oeuvres at the event, along with information about the bond measure.
We feel there’s an urgent need to improve the basic infrastructure of Yamhill-Carlton schools. The kids in our community need a safe place to learn, and the current buildings and facilities are antiquated and simply don’t measure up. We’re hoping the community will help by contributing generously to this effort, and by voting YES on the bond measure in November. Friday-Sunday, November 21st-23rd, 11am-6pm
